OpenLiero is a reverse-engineering project of Liero by Gliptic to enable playing Liero in Windows XP etc with sounds. OpenLiero is placed in an existing Liero folder and will then emulate Liero. It is, unlike Dosbox, not slow and laggy. OpenLiero is actually OpenLiero 2 since there was an earlier OpenLiero also created by Gliptic in 2001. This first OpenLiero later evolved into LOSP.

Tips

  • You can press "F5" to toggle fullscreen or "F6" for double size.
  • Windows DirectX Fullscreen mode option:

you can run beta10 in DirectX mode, by using "openliero -vdirectx" (without quotes)

Versions

  • Beta 6-10: Issues around DLL caused an avalance of new versions on September 3, until it worked.
  • Beta 5: Fixed some soundbugs regarding some TC's with 0 second sounds, and supports all keys in player settings. Running fullscreen is diffrent, try double size (F6).
  • Changes in earlier versions are not recorded. But there were many fixes. Probably.

Fun facts

  • A notable diffrence between Liero and OpenLiero is choosing of HUMAN or CPU in the player settings. OpenLiero uses sideway arrow keys, while Liero 1.33 uses Enter. In fact, this was an unknown bug in Liero as Joosa typoed in the code. Gliptic has "corrected" this bug as a kind of joke.
  • The bulk of the work was done by Gliptic in his parents home, during summer holiday. After his return to his school home, he released almost 10 new betas in just a few days.
