Basara has done some work on a graphic lib (I think a lib...) named 'omfgfx'. Him and Gliptic have had a few discussions about how they want it to work too. Basara wants to make his own sound thing to support multiple listeners for local play, which Gliptic insists is useless, so I doubt Basara will do that in the end. I think Gliptic also had some elevated interest towards the VM now too.

So there's been some progress although Basara must do some work for his University course or whatever so I doubt he'll be working on gus for a bit.

In other news I took some parts from Maugaunra's water and made my own: http://dump.ragzouken.com/water.zip

It's just a map at the moment, not properly ready for use.

Same as always, Gusanos development is waiting for a proper vm + scripting language to exist. Gliptic may make one someday, but its a lot of work so it will take a long time.

Some reason, also Gliptic hates writing lua bindings.

Slow runtime and shitty type unsafety are not an option!

The plan for gus 1.0 is to have as most game logic as possible in a scripting language. This improves modding capabilities and makes development of game features easier ( since instead of making things optional everywhere you just hardcode them in the moddable script ).
Obviously moving lots of code into moddable scripts makes the speed of such scripts more significant to the execution speed, Gliptic's vm would use a Just In Time (JIT) compiler that would make it quite faster than lua's vm.
Also, even if the execution speed werent a problem, the amount of code that would be in the scripts would be quite big. Gliptic and I happen to like languages with type safety, which most scripting languages out there which can be used for game scripting dont have.

Since the modder will harcode almost everything, maybe each modder should code gus 1.0 with C++ or sth Tongue:P:P
