apt-get install libxxf86dga-dev
Actually, I think the allegro-dev package should depend on that, so it's an Ubuntu bug.

OK, i think it worked, but now I only have a gusanos.EXE (!!!) in this folder. When I try to open it, it tells me

Quote
Cannot open gusanos.exe
The filename "gusanos.exe" indicates that this file is of type "DOS/Windows-Programm". The contents of the file indicate that the file is of type "Programm". If you open this file, the file might present a security risk to your system.

Do not open the file unless you created the file yourself, or received the file from a trusted source. To open the file, rename the file to the correct extension for "Programm", then open the file normally. Alternatively, use the Open With menu to choose a specific application for the file.

When I rename it to gusanos without an extension and try to execute it, it doesn't seem to do anything

You need the data (the link is in the HowTo), but it went down with our last ComSer host, I'll re-upload soon.
EDIT: Well, it was there after all, but the link was wrong Tongue

Finally, we need to get the datafiles. I have packaged all default levels and mods + some add-ons in a Linux compatible package here (thanks to Wei-Zhi-Hui for hosting). Save it into the Gusanos binary folder and:

Code:
tar xvjf gusdata-linux.tar.bz2

Now go play Gusanos!

EDIT: Didn't work with your package ,too  Embarrassed

The datafiles from windows don't work. It would be helpful if you could run "./gusanos" from a terminal and post the error(s) with my data files.

This is what it tells me
Quote
root@Nonsense:/home/mots/gusanos # ./gusanos
./gusanos: error while loading shared libraries: libzoidcom.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

But I'm sure, I installed zoidcom as you told me

Do you have /usr/local/lib in /etc/ld.so.conf? If not, add it and run ldconfig as root.

I did this and now when I try to start, the screen just turns black for a short time. When I open it in the console it shows me a small black window called gusanos and then the screen turns black for one second. Then i can see the window again and then it gets black again and so on till I close it with alt+f4

Where did you extract the data?
It should be in the same dir as the gusanos binary:

|
|-cog/
|-default/
|-instagib/
|-whatever/
|-gusanos

Then I'm out of ideas. What graphics card do you have? Try installing some other allegro game (like liquidwar, it's in Ubuntu repositories) and see if it works.
