I know this is not really the right place to ask this, but does anyone know why quakenet wont let anyone connect from New Zealand/Australia???

They do, but it might be that someone who shares your hostmask has been G-lined (banned) or something, so... it should work. If it doesnt, try again later. Also, dont use browser-irc clients. I think they dont like that.
