Today is a jolly good day, we're all teary eyes and shakey smiles, but we're not on crack. The reason for such retarded-looking faces is that the kR15t|\/|45 5p1R17 has struck us hard, and you and I know kR15t|\/|45 is all about presents. So we magically give you the mightiest sparkly-twinkly gift you could've asked for (or not): GUSANOS 0.9 Beta is Coming to Town!

Among other goodness this release includes:
- A freaking complete rewrite of the engine!
- Mind-blowing, jaw-dropping, drool-provoking modding capabilities
- NASA-engineers-couldn't-have-made-it-better-(sorta) netplay (with oh-so-sexy master server)
- 50 (fifty) original Liero maps + three (III) GUSANOS maps + tech-test map
- A GU... GU... GUI
- A very bright future
- Gliptic
Remember this is still in beta stage, so there might still be a few rough edges (incomplete menus, only 8 weapons in default).
A few extra notes:
- The game runs in single-player mode by default, to switch to split-screen mode type at the console (same as Quake): cl_splitscreen 1
- Add bots with addbot (d'oh)
- Try the tech-test map (map techtest)

I am trying to compile gusanos on my linux box following the guidance on wiki page of gusanos.
So far I have the following problem and I am wondering what is wrong..
any ideas?

Congratulations, Basara and Gliptic and all for getting it out right on time.
I'm downloading it and I'm sure it'll have many nice things to see and do - especially as the modders get to it.
[edit]I've tried it now - the techtest map has nice stuff (the dynamic light, distortion), but my favorite things are the Thorb and the manipulator (a nice use of gravity particles).[/edit]
The first post is a little over-the-top, but who can blame you[edit](Pilaf <grin>)[/edit] for being so happy! ^_^ It's a lot of hard work writing any moddable game. I hope you continue with it and keep raising the bar.

Hey, it's finallly out!
Yay! ... but one problem: how can I play only against bots, like single-player? I've tried hosting and joining and neither work for me.

Nevermind...I just had to open the command prompt and type map <mapname>
Gusanos .9beta is awesome, guys. IMO, it is
way
more fun than Liero. The 'addbot' is sweet, the weapons rock, and the sounds! ...The sounds are great!

Waiting for this version for quite a while...
Hmm.. I have another question another question: before final 9.0 release, is it possible to create sources package for linux (hopefully with all binary data..) to be put on sourcefourge servers? In such a way it will eventually work?

We will be working on it linux bins if they are possible. Btw, I have an idea of why SConstruct doesnt work for you, if you downloaded it from the wiki then that is the problem, get it from CVS ROOT and try again :O
